Ready for the runway
Buccal fat removals are procedures that rid the face of fat buildup in the cheeks. By making small incisions in the mouth, Dr. Santosa pulls out the fat pad stored in the cheek to provide a more mature, defined look. In addition, buccal fat removals allow the natural hollowing of the cheeks to achieve a model-like appearance.
Naturally Beautiful
Buccal fat removal procedures work by removing the pad of fat found in the cheeks to achieve a sleek, naturally gorgeous look. In addition, buccal fat removal helps to define the hollows of the cheeks to get that model-like beauty.
Contoured Beauty
Good candidates for buccal fat removal procedures are individuals in good health, have round or chubby cheeks, and have realistic expectations for their appearance. You should wait for buccal fat removal if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have any underlying medical conditions, you should first discuss them with your primary care doctor or Dr. Santosa during your consultation. Buccal fat pad removals are permanent, low-risk, quickly resulting procedures.

A good time to break bad habits
You should avoid smoking, alcohol, caffeine, and anti-inflammatory medications at least two weeks before your procedure. Once you are under general anesthesia, she will make a small incision on your cheek from the inside of your mouth to gain access to the buccal fat pad. Dr. Santosa will then carefully remove the entire pad and close your incisions.
A permanent solution
After the procedure, our Atlanta buccal fat removal patients may experience some swelling of the outer cheeks. This will fade within three weeks. Your incisions inside of your mouth should be healed in about a week. Your full results of naturally contoured cheeks should appear within twelve weeks after your procedure. You should avoid smoking, alcohol, caffeine, excessive or strenuous activity, and anti-inflammatory medications for two weeks after your procedure. These things can severely slow down healing time and can cause complications to arise.
You will be advised to take up a liquid or semi-liquid diet for the first few days post-procedure to help with healing, but you will be able to return to your normal diet as soon as it is comfortable for you and your incisions are healed. In addition, it is recommended that you keep your head elevated and sleep on your back to help with the healing process. Your results will be permanent. However, if you gain a large amount of weight in the future, the effects of your procedure may be reversed as fat re-enters the cheeks. Another buccal fat removal is always an option as long as you are in good health.
Dr. Katherine B. Santosa makes it her mission to help her patients as best she can. Therefore, after your buccal fat pad removal, she will contact you within twenty-four hours for a follow-up appointment. She will answer any questions you may have during that second appointment and provide you with the best means of contacting her or her team to stay in touch. This way, if you ever need anything, Dr. Santosa and her team can help!
Since this procedure is done on the inside of the mouth, there are no scars left behind!
During your procedure, you are under general anesthesia to ensure your experience is as pain-free and comfortable as possible.
Risks with buccal fat removal procedures are uncommon. These rare risks include infection, heavy bleeding, and nerve damage.
