Schedule your neck lift consultation today and feel confident knowing you’re in great hands.

Compassion and Precision

What is a Neck Lift?

A Neck Lift is a procedure that involves making small incisions behind or below the ear and within the hairline to pull the skin on the neck tighter. Dr. Santos also performs direct neck lifts, which use an incision down the midline of the neck to correct signs of aging and loose skin.

All The Good Stuff

Benefits of a Neck Lift

A neck lift can create a cleaner, smoother transition from the chin to the collarbone, especially when loose skin, excess fat, or muscle banding has softened the neck contours over time. The goal isn’t to make the neck look tight or overworked, but to restore a more defined neck and jawline in a way that still feels natural to your face.

A neck lift may help:

  • Tighten loose skin and sagging skin in the neck area
  • Improve the appearance of a double chin or turkey neck
  • Smooth visible neck bands caused by loose neck muscles
  • Remove excess skin for a firmer, cleaner contour
  • Reduce excess fat beneath the chin when appropriate
  • Create a more defined jawline and youthful appearance
  • Improve the balance between the lower face and neck
  • Support natural-looking results that age well with healthy habits

The Right Fit

Am I a Candidate for a Neck Lift?

Good neck lift candidates are typically bothered by loose skin, sagging skin, excess fat, or visible neck bands that don’t respond to non-surgical treatments. Many patients notice these changes as part of the aging process, though weight changes, genetics, sun damage, and environmental factors can also affect the neck skin earlier than expected.

You may be a candidate for neck lift surgery if you are in good health, at a healthy weight, and have realistic expectations about what the procedure can achieve. Some patients want to correct a sagging appearance under the chin, while others are more focused on jawline definition, a double chin, or excess skin that makes the neck look older than the face. During your initial consultation, Dr. Santosa will review your medical history, examine your face and neck, and determine whether a neck lift procedure, mini neck lift, neck liposuction, or another treatment option may be the best fit.

Neck surgery may not be recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, actively smoking, or managing certain medical conditions that could affect healing. In those cases, Dr. Santosa may discuss safer timing or alternative treatments, such as skin resurfacing, injectable options, or other non-surgical care to improve the neck area.

The Difference

Neck Lift vs. Facelift

Neck Lifts target only the sagging skin beneath the chin and neck, whereas facelifts target the entire lower face. Patients often get both procedures done simultaneously, tightening their complexion entirely and erasing those pesky folds and creases in the skin.

Neck Lift vs. Mini Neck Lift

A neck lift and a mini neck lift both focus on improving the neck and jawline, but they’re not the same procedure. A traditional neck lift is usually the better choice when a patient has more noticeable loose skin, excess skin, muscle banding, or significant changes beneath the chin. This surgical procedure may involve tightening the underlying muscles, removing excess skin, and refining the neck contours through small incisions placed around the ears, under the chin, or within natural creases.

A mini neck lift is a less extensive option for younger patients or patients with mild concerns. It may be appropriate when skin laxity is minimal, neck muscles are still relatively firm, and the main concern is early sagging or a small amount of fullness under the chin. A mini neck lift typically involves smaller incisions and a shorter recovery period than a traditional neck lift, though the results are also more subtle.

A New, Exciting Experience

What can a neck lift do?

Neck Lifts are extremely beneficial for individuals in good health but are frustrated with sagging neck skin. Dr. Santosa helps you eliminate unflattering, volumeless skin by pulling back the excess skin and tightening it. You should talk with your primary care doctor or let us know during your consultation if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any underlying medical conditions. A neck lift may not be a good option for you, but there may be an alternative aesthetic treatment that is safer for your condition. Schedule your consultation today to find out what treatment is best for you.

Neck Lift Procedure

Before your procedure, you are advised to avoid alcohol, smoking, certain prescription drugs, and unhealthy foods in the two weeks before your neck lift. This will ensure that our Atlanta neck lift patients are in their best health for the procedure. Dr. Santosa will begin by cleaning the treatment area thoroughly to avoid infection. Incisions are made as specified in your surgical plan. Dr. Santosa will then pull the skin taut to eliminate any sagging, excess skin. The incisions will then be closed and bandaged. Your skin will be gently cleaned once more, and you will be ready to begin your recovery.

Feel Good in Your Skin

Neck Lift Recovery, Results, and Aftercare

Our Atlanta neck lift patients will see immediate results following their procedure, but it will take about two weeks for most of the swelling and bruising to go down. After those two weeks, you will still need to be careful, though you can return to daily life almost entirely. It takes about a month to two months for full results to appear. For the first week after your neck lift, you will need to continue avoiding unhealthy foods, alcohol, smoking, certain prescription drugs, and turning your neck. It is advised that you turn your entire body to look at things if necessary, as turning your head could irritate or re-open your healing incisions.

For at least a week, you should sleep on your back with your head elevated to help reduce swelling. You will have a follow-up appointment within twenty-four hours of your procedure. Your final results will consist of tightened, rejuvenated skin around the lower chin and neck. Dr. Santosa has supplements that she often gives her neck lift patients that help reduce bruising. Let Dr. Santosa know if you experience these feelings during your recovery.

Maintaining your Neck Lift Results

Neck lifts affect only the tightness and positioning of the skin, not the skin’s tone, texture, or blemishes. Taking care of your body is essential in keeping your skin healthy and maintaining the best results possible. Dr. Katherine B. Santosa will be continuously checking in on you during your recovery with follow-ups and phone calls to ensure everything is going well and to answer any questions that may arise. Neck Lift Frequently Asked Questions

Neck lifts require incisions during the procedure, meaning that scars will be present. However, they will not be noticeable due to the hiding of the incisions within the hairline and behind the ears.

You are under general anesthesia to keep you comfortable during your procedure.

Possible risks from neck lifts include hematoma, blood clots, nerve damage, and infection. These side effects are not common. Dr. Santosa will inform you of all the necessary precautions you should take in order to drastically reduce the chances of these risks occurring.

Given that every patient and treatment plan is different, it is difficult to give an accurate price for your neck lift. Neck lifts are not medically necessary and are not covered by insurance. Dr. Santosa’s team will be able to answer all questions regarding pricing, payment, and financing during your consultation.
